During Senator Joseph McCarthy’s era and his Communist witch hunts, he kept “lists” where he wrote the names of those suspected of being Commies. This was what the Democrats hated most about McCarthy and his era. They have also said that those were some of the darkest days in American history.
But now we see further proof that times have changed. Now, left-wing Democrats and their allies are all for putting conservatives and Trump supporters on “lists” so they can be officially persecuted.
As Harold Meyerson wrote for the prominent leftist American Prospect:
Still, the worse thing is that Myerson is not the only person making these kinds of crazy and unconstitutional suggestions about his political opponents.
A recent op-ed in the Washington Post with the headline, “What the 1798 Sedition Act got right — and what it means today.” The op-ed discussed how dangerous “misinformation” is and how the First Amendment free speech protections are inadequate to sort fact from fiction. The piece also claimed that opponents of the Sedition Act “were wrong to conclude that the truth would necessarily prevail in an open exchange of information.”
Meanwhile, “The Dwarf King,” as Tucker Carlson refers to him, is busy telling his limited audience that Fox News must be taken off the air because they are “liars” or something — and that doing so is actually not a curb on free speech.
“…Reducing a liar’s reach is not the same as censors freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is different than freedom of reach,” Brian Stelter had actually said this past weekend.
The former head of security for Facebook, Alex Stamos, also said that conservative outlets such as Newsmax, Fox News, and One America News should be de-platformed following the January 6 Capitol riot, even though they had nothing to do with it.
“We have to turn down the capability of these conservative influencers to reach these huge audiences. There are people on YouTube, for example, that have a larger audience than daytime CNN, and they are extremely radical and pushing extremely radical views,” Stamos said.
